Student Activities » How to join a club/society
UDSU Sports and Societies like the Students Union itself, are run by students for students. We like to see new Sports Clubs and Societies developing through the years.
If you have an interest that is not currently represented, it is relatively easy to set up a group for like minded students. The following information has been put together to help you get started, and to explain what support services UDSU can offer you.
- Step 1
- Come and talk to UDSU Student Activities Staff, or pick up a leaflet in UDSU reception about any new ideas. We will explain the criteria you need to fulfil to affiliate to us.
- Step 2
- Decide on a day and time to have your first meeting and book a room in the University (free of charge) through the Student Activities staff.
- Step 3
- Write an article for Dusted to advertise the Club or Society you would like to establish, and give details about when and where your first meeting will be. Publicise your first meeting with posters, flyers and on the StudentTV system. You will be given £10 in a start up account to help you with publicity costs.
- Step 4
- Elect your committee members who will be responsible for the day to day running of your Club/Society at your first meeting. A Students Union official will attend your first meeting to help you with the elections and to answer any questions your members may have. They will also bring any forms you will need to complete.
- Step 5
- Then you have 6 weeks from you first meeting date to get 15 students paid and signed up. Membership forms can be filled out at reception or if you would like a member of the Student Activities team to come along to a meeting in order to set up then contact us on 01332 591510.
