Open 9.30am – 1.30pm / 2pm – 4.30pm

Hello from the underground depths of the UDSU Boiler House. My name is Marie and I look after the Boiler House. In case you are wondering what the Boiler House is all about allow me to enlighten you…

Aptly named because it was home to some heavy–duty boilers when the Devonshire was a hospital. The boilers are now gone and this vast space has been turned into one of the latest UDSU facilities on campus at the Devonshire Royal and its open to all students on campus here at Buxton. The Boiler House provides students with the chance to watch DVDs, play loud music, and chill to your hearts content, and why not relax into one of the big comfy chairs. Also it provides the chance for students to use the two new pool tables, which is proving a roaring success. And at the end of the day it provides a suitable place to warm up from Buxton’s temperamental weather!

Lots of events take place in this facility. Past events such as balloon modelling, alternative apple bobbin’, card games, and the highly successful pool tournament! Many more events are planned over the next academic year, so watch this space.

On a more serious note, The Boiler House allows students to gain advice on issue such as contraception and have an informal chat to Marie.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
